An Indian publisher has come up with a marvel way of charging £49,000 for a biography. Put blood in it.
The blood edition of Sachin Tendulkar’s bio (Tendulkar Opus) contains the cricketer’s blood mixed into paper pulp, tinting the signature page. The book also contains unpublished family pictures, Tendulkar’s thoughts about his career, and a DNA swab WTF!, weighs 37kg, measures half a metre square and stretches to 852 pages edged in gold leaf, costing $75,000 (£49,000). Out next February, only 10 copies are being printed and they have all already been pre-ordered. Question is who’d buy such a thing?
